San Juan Baggs was created in April of 2008. After working with my husband making colorful, southwest, decorative plates for 9 years, I decided to move on to making colorful, decorative southwest purses/baggs. This endeavour is a life long dream come true. Each bagg is hand made by me. Some fabric is used whole piece. Other fabric that I use is created by cutting from larger pieces of fabric and collaging it together with freemotion stitching. I then decorate the fabric with gorgeous threads, then add petroglyph imagery (and coming soon - garden imagery) from my plate decorating days. All of this is fused, appliqued and free motion stitched. Beading embellishes the baggs and all baggs have leather handles and leather bottoms. This is a labor of love - every day is an action of gratitude.
